Ascent Capture

Ascent Capture Internet Server
Ascent Capture Internet Server (ACIS) enables organizations to
transfer documents and data captured at branch offices to a central
Ascent Capture installation via a corporate network or the Internet.
By embracing distributed capture, organizations can react more quickly
to incoming information, reduce costs, enhance security and improve
productivity versus paper- or CD-based processes.
Organizations need ACIS if they:
• Have numerous branch offices which regularly ship paper
documents, forms or CDs to headquarters.
• Want to kick start business processes as soon as documents
are scanned at branch offices, rather than wait for them to arrive
at a central site.
• Seek to reduce or eliminate the cost, delay and security
issues involved in shipping paper documents, forms or CDs to a central
scan or data entry site for processing.
|
 |
With ACIS you can:
• Equip branch offices with inexpensive Ascent Capture remote
licenses, and enable them to do their own document scanning.
• Get documents and data into a workflow faster, accelerating
the flow of information throughout an organization.
• Stop scrambling daily to meet deadlines for shipping documents
to headquarters, and reduce or eliminate the cost and delays these
shipments incur.
• Put the power of document imaging into the hands of branch
offices, but continue to maintain control from a central site.
• Institute tighter security, as sensitive paper documents
or CDs no longer need be shipped outside the office and handled
by non-employees (e.g., couriers).
• Route single documents or batches to multiple locations
before transfer to headquarters.
Key features of ACIS include:
• System-wide synchronization. Configuration changes made
at headquarters automatically download at all branch offices.
• Central site controls the amount and type of processing
scanned documents undergo at branch offices, and the timing of data
transfer to headquarters (e.g., real-time or in batches when network
traffic is low).
• Routing/workflow capabilities.
• Quick ROI with reduction or elimination of overnight shipping
charges.

VirtualReScan (VRS)
VRS 4.1 Professional upgrades the capabilities of VRS Basic, adding
robust image enhancement features that further reduce the need for
manual intervention in the scanning process. VRS 4.1 Professional
can make even difficult-to-read or damaged documents legible, auto-rotate
documents to the same orientation, and automatically switch between
color and black & white modes without adjusting the scanner’s
settings.
Organizations need VRS 4.1 Professional if they:
• Scan particularly challenging documents, such as those printed
on dense background patterns or security paper, recycled paper,
wrinkled paper, dirty paper or thermal paper.
• Spend too much time manually preparing documents before
scanning by sorting them into color and black & white batches,
orientating them in one direction, removing blank pages, and inserting
separator pages.
• Dispose of paper documents immediately after scanning and,
to maintain compliance with government and industry regulations,
demand assurance the digital representations they rely upon as their
replacement are legible.
With VRS 4.1 Professional you can:
• Reduce manual document scanning steps to removing staples
and paper clips, stacking paper in feeder tray, and hitting the
SCAN button.
• Mix color and black & white documents in the same batch.
Convert on the fly from black & white to color (or vice versa),
without the need to adjust scanner settings, or use separator sheets
or patch codes.
Key features include:
• Advanced Clarity makes even “unreadable” images
legible.
• Automatic image orientation adjusts skewed images, even
completely rotating upside down ones, so all captured images are
oriented in the same direction.
• Intelligently determines if a page is blank and can be eliminated
from the workflow.
• Correctly identifies and retains color when it is integral
to a document (e.g., logo, photo, date stamp) and eliminates it
when it is not (e.g., colored paper stock).
• Removing image noise compacts file size, reducing network
traffic and storage requirements.
• Scanner Configuration Utility simplifies scanner set-up
and selection.
